Fabulous tamales good for a snack -- the pork one is sneakily spicy, the cheese one less so but still great

Great mexican food. Santa Fe style. Low key and locals-first. Tamales are awesome. Not so fancy - don't take your date here until you just want to ignore each other and feast on masa-based dishes. Take home tamales = big score.

This place is fast and delicious. It is a great lunch place that serves good New Mexican food. I love the "famous tamales" and the tacos al pastor. If you are eating dinner it is better to get your food to-go, really more of a counter service lunch place. I have also had their food at catered events, and it was on point. Thumbs up!

Let me preface this review by saying that I purchased a $10 for $20 voucher deal on Yelp to feed both my friend and I - an amazing deal. Upon walking in, Posa's looks like the average Mexican in-and-out eatery. There is a decent amount of seating, and the decor is modern and clean. I did notice a few windows in the back revealing a large industrial building connected to the restaurant, which we later found out was the tamale factory the restaurant was connected to. We arrived at around 6am so the place was pretty empty, but I think watching tamales being made in the factory while eating would be an interesting experience. I got a sausage breakfast burrito with Christmas (red & green) chile, and a single tamale out of principle. The burrito was delicious, though not perfect - both the red and green chile were amazing and I wished there was more of it. The sausage inside was also juicy and flavorful, and I couldn't tell if it was homemade or store-bought which is definitely a good thing. The tamale had pretty good flavor and texture, but also a tad greasy. For a tamale factory I did expect a little more from their tamale. If the $10 for $20 deal is still going on, take a friend and take him/her to Posa's for a great meal. However, even if it's not Posa's is definitely one of the better places in New Mexico to eat some amazing chile and leave satisfied.

Posa's is an out of the way spot for a quick, tasty bite of New Mexican favorites. My two dishes of choice here are the bacon Christmas (red and green chile) breakfast burritos and the pork red chile tamales. When I make tamales, I aspire to make them as good as the ones at Posa's. The red chile is rich and intense in flavor and the masa is light but not dried out. The breakfast burritos are my favorite handheld burritos in Santa Fe, due in large part to the flavorful chile. The coffee, however, is a bit of a weak point in their repertoire. I wouldn't expect top-notch coffee at a place like this, but theirs is slightly below mediocre. Some of the reviews I've seen of this place have mentioned issues with the ambiance and/or service. I haven't personally noticed any issues with the service. It's generally fast--perhaps not overly friendly or peppy, but perfectly acceptable. As far as ambiance, I guess I don't notice anything lacking here either. It's fast casual, not a traditional sit-down restaurant. Posa's doubles as a tamale factory, and when I'm there I like to watch them making tamales by hand through the glass window.

They have some decent New Mexican food when they serve it hot. The Santa Fe plate is good - two tamales drowned in chile, comes with posole and tortillas on the side. The frito pie and breakfast burritos are good as well. However, food quality is very hit or miss... The handheld original burritos are always lukewarm and you can still make out the individual cheese shreds inside (lame). I really wish they could figure out a way to make the burritos hot. I've also had coltish takeout frito pies on multiple occasions. Also, although they are a tamale factory, their tamales are really, really bad (super greasy, but dry - probably because they precook them before chilling/freezing). The ambiance is lacking - the room basically has a counter to order at and a bunch of tables. It's more of a take out place IMO, although many sit at the tables during lunch. There's a large window at the rear of the room where you can watch tamales being made - fun for the kids!

Posa's really is world class when it comes to tacos and tamales. If you want authentic tamales, this is the place to stop. This is not a good "date night" place, but perfect for a breakfast stop to start your day or a lunch with friends, family or co-workers. If you want fine dining, head to the Santa Fe plaza instead. But to get a feel for the real New Mexican taste without the expensive cost, check them out. They also serve french fries, but don't get them here. Not one of their specialties. Stick with the good stuff, burritos, tacos and tamales. Very well done! Make sure you read the family story at the back of the building and watch the ladies in action making tamales. Good stuff all around!

Awesome food. Good prices. Not a place to eat in though, zero ambience, and they got really confused when I tried to redeem my yelp deal, and tried to get me to pay extra. probably the staff was just not adequately trained...

I love eating at Posa's! Their posole is some of the best in town. Check out the Santa Fe Plate, it's very well priced. Don't come here if you can't handle the spice

Food was really good. Tamales (pork) really good. I'm from houston texas and the sauce they use is different. Very hot and spicy

I stopped in hoping for quality food as good as their tamales I've bought from the store. They were spot on! Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and menu was thorough. Both red and green Chile are both only available hot, but have amazing flavor! I had a Frito pie dish and it's the best I've had by far! I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone! These people know authentic New Mexican food!!

I love their chorizo breakfast burritos and could eat their green chile by itself. In fact we buy the green chile by the half gallon to take home. Their enchiladas are amazing as well.

While staying in Santa Fe I went to Yelp for a lunch spot. Found this place with good reviews PLUS a Yelp DEAL so we went. We both had pork tamales - mine with green chile and Wifey without. Presentation was very nice with beans and rice in separate molded tortilla bowls. Great beans and rice - well it's rice, just fine. The star was the tamales. I'm 67 and a native Texan who has lived in Arizona and traveled frequently in NM. I do not know it I have ever had better tamales. Prices for "to go" tamales are higher than I'm used to but product is superlative. Place is small with counter service - get in line and they bring food to you. Small place with a window to the tamale factory. Nothing fancy but I'd drive out of my way for these great tamales again

I love the breakfast burritos, and have sampled the majority of the menu. All of it is solid, no complaints in the taste department. That said, this place has quirks. 1)they expect a tip for taking my order and putting it in a brown bag... Literally, that's a real thing that happens there. I don't know why. 2) the people that take the orders more often than not are inattentive or just rude outright. Usually because I refuse to tip them for pressing some buttons and handing them my debit card. 3) it's Mexican food, which generally implies cheap. This place is not cheap at all. They're trying to pretend they're a sit down restaurant but it's not one at all and the prices are literally double what you'd pay somewhere similar. I don't recommend skipping this place but I eat here rarely for good reason.

Posa's has hands down, flat out, no contest the best handheld breakfast burrito in town. I have tried every one I've come across and no one comes close. In fact, every handheld burrito on the menu is delicious, and for merely a dollar, you can have you burrito deep fried. I love the Roast Beef burrito deep-fried, it's like a Cheesesteak Chimichanga. Once you get off the burrito menu, the only items worth while are the torilla burger and tamales. My rating of four stars instead of five is only because they waste time with food other than the aforementioned deliciousness.

I love Posas! Wish I had one near me. Thankfully I visit Santa Fe often. I love the breakfast burrito. I always get a tub of green chile. The horchata rocks!

As a local, this is one of my favorite places to eat. I love the RODEO location because you can watch the ladies hand making the Tamales in the factory, behind the big glass windows, while you're eating in the restaurant. My favorite are the Green Chile Rellenos and the Chimichangas. Didn't know they were the people that invented those. They're Awesome! Still family owned, I highly recommend it, if you're in Santa Fe.

How can one not be a fan? It's really a factory for tamales. You can even watch them making them. But you can also eat there and have amazing red chile dishes (the green is not bad either). For lunch either for there or to go works. And the price is right.

I took my 5 year old with me to have lunch with me, where I was told no outside food was aloud in the restaurant. So my son could not eat his peanut butter and jelly sandwich there. I think Posa's should change their policy. I will not be going to Posa's anymore. I wonder if you bring your own water/drink will they refuse to sell you food?

This place is close to my office so I have given it a few tries. I am just not a fan. The only item I've found I liked was the steak fajita burrito. I no longer eat beef so there is just nothing on the menu for me to eat I wish they had better food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
